Did you go into the old cathedral you can just make out in this pic? The inside is quite dark and cool, lots of candles, the smell of incense, all surrounded by massively thick walls. Try to drop by when there is a mass on and you'll get to see the long-time residents. There is always lots of old women dressed in black. Go figure!
I visited the inside of the church yesterday afternoon, I was the only one there and it was really neat. You get a feeling of just how thick the walls of stone are from the temperature change as you step inside. I proceeded north into the Parc St. Bernard and was taken aback of how beautiful it was.
